Tech Review: ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser

Meet my new buddy, the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0! I received this a week ago (thank you ASUS Philippines!) and will finally be sharing my experience with it so far. I’m no tech blogger so I’ll keep this review simple and very understandable (no technical jargon!). This will be more towards its practical side, highlighting the features of the phone that are significant to my personal lifestyle and preferences.

I guess the first thing that attracts me and most of us to a certain phone is its overall aesthetic appearance. This phone is an automatic check for me. First, it may be superficial but its metallic finish and particular shade of gold got me to check that right away. (There are also other pretty colors to choose from!) Next, is the overall shape of the phone; ZenFone 2 is designed to comfortably fit your palm - with its curved back and thinnest edge measuring just 3.9mm! The 5.0-inch HD screen size is also not too wide or too narrow, just right for my tiny hands! Lol.

Look how thin it is!! It’s very light too.

Next is the software - this is my first Android operating phone. I was uncomfortable at first but it took me just a while to get the hang of it.

The ZenFone 2 Laser is also one of the quickest phones with a record-breaking tough response time of just 60ms unlike other Android phones which often encounter lags. This I’ve noticed and can actually compare and see the difference with the ZenFone 2 which proves to be faster and more responsive.

If there is one thing I’m very particular about and is a must when it comes to a phone, it has be to having a good camera. Another check for ZenFone 2 as it has an 8-Megapixel outer camera and 5-megapixel front camera. Its rear camera also has an 0.3 second laser auto focus system technology - making photos sharp and clear!

The camera setting also comes with a lot of fun and creative built-in filters such as HDR, Super Resolution, Beautification, Depth of Field, GIF Animation, Night, Panorama, Night, and Low Light. Who needs photo apps now??

My first of two favorite photo options would be the ‘Beautification’ effect. This is perfect to achieve that flawless selfie! You can adjust your skin smoothness, silm down your cheeks, add-on some blush and even enlarge your eyes. Super fun and funny!

This is a photo with a slight Beautification effect.

Selfies are also made easier with this ‘rear key’. This button at the back not only can take snaps but also adjusts the volume and other phone functions.

My second favorite photo option is the ‘Depth of Field’. This is great for close-up and macro shots. You just take a snap, hold it up for about 2 seconds, and then you have an automatic photo with a blurred out background! Above is a sample. Looks like a snap from a DSLR right? Except this time you don’t have to carry one, just a handy Zenfone 2!

So if you are looking for a new beautiful and high performing yet affordable phone I highly suggest you consider the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 which is being sold for P7,295 only!
